The Entrepreneurial Story
In 1944, Hosea Luter founded a local plumbing and electrical store, Hosea Luter Plumbing,
which originally operated out of his home. Understanding his wife's desire to get her living
room back and his need for more room to operate, Hosea built a separate store in 1948. This
would later become Luter's Supply Company Inc. Hosea slowly added faucets and tubs to his
existing product line of piping, wire, and water pumps. Responding to customer demand, he
began shifting focus away from plumbing and electrical to kitchen and bath product lines.
Hosea's son and Luter's Supply's current CEO, Emmette Luter, had a vision of creating a
kitchen and bath display that would attract customers outside of the small rural community of
Tylertown, MS. So in 1986, Luter's Supply Showroom was built one block away from the
original Luter's Supply warehouse. Today, Luter's Supply Showroom's single location services
a selling radius exceeding 200 miles! Luter's is currently developing LuterSupply.com into an
e-commerce website, which will expand this selling area even further.
